Domiciliary Care for People with Learning Disabilities
At MediCor, we provide caring, person-centred domiciliary care for people with learning disabilities. Our trained staff help with daily tasks like personal care, cooking, cleaning, taking medication, and travelling safely.
We know everyone is different. Care plans are tailored to each person’s needs, abilities, and goals. Our aim is to support independence, confidence, and social inclusion.
We also help with communication, manage challenging behaviours safely, and work with healthcare professionals to meet physical and mental health needs.
All our services are inclusive. We provide easy-to-understand information, practical support, and advocacy when needed.
MediCor helps people live safely, confidently, and with dignity in their own homes and communities.
How MediCor Supports Independence
- Supported living or community services
- Teaching life skills like hygiene, shopping, and travel
- Helping people join social activities and build confidence
Types of Support
- Low: Occasional help with tasks like budgeting
- Medium: Regular help with daily routines and social activities
- High/Full-Time: 24/7 care for complex needs
Our team may include support workers, nurses, and behavioural specialists.
Understanding Behaviour
Challenging behaviour, like shouting or refusing care, is often a way to communicate needs.
MediCor uses Positive Behaviour Support (PBS):
- Identify triggers, like noise or change
- Understand causes, like fear or pain
- Teach safe ways to express feelings
Mild Learning Disabilities
Some people with mild disabilities are not easily recognized. This can lead to missed support, isolation, or mental health problems.
MediCor finds and supports these individuals through outreach, assessments, and community programs.
MediCor’s Care Philosophy
Our care is:
- Compassionate and person-centred
- Rights-based
- Focused on independence, choice, and dignity
- Supporting inclusion in all parts of life
